Special Pilgrimage train from Jaipur- Rajasthan


Super Fast Holiday Special Train

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will run a special pilgrimage train from Jaipur, starting from January 20, 2014. This train will visit five jyotirlingas in three states of India. IRCTC has scheduled the ten-day itinerary of the train in which the train will reach Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh on January 21. Here passengers can visit Mahakaleshwar. The next day, the train will reach Dwarka in Gujarat, and following the night stay, pilgrims will be taken for a visit to the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga on January 23.

The pilgrims will then be taken to the Somnath Jyotirlinga on January 24 at Veraval. On January 25, the train will go to Aurangabad and visit the Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga on January 26. The train will proceed to Nasik, where passengers will visit the last pilgrimage Trayambkeshwar Jyotirlinga before returning to Jaipur on January 29.

IRCTC has planned the tour in a package in which they will provide breakfast, lunch, dinner and lodging during journey.

Jaipur-Agra Fort Shatabdi Express to hit the tracks from November 30, 2012


The pink city is all set to receive the gift of Jaipur Agra Shatabdi express this month. Announcement about the train was made in the union rail budget 2011. As per the Railway officials, Coaches of the luxury train have now reached Jaipur and the train would come down on track from November 30, 2012.

The Jaipur-Agra fort Shatabdi express is scheduled to depart from Jaipur at 7:05 in the morning with an arrival time of 10:35 at Agra. It would return from Agra fort at 4:20 in the evening and would reach Jaipur at 7:50 pm. The train would only halt at Bharatpur station during its journey.

Tourism industries  have welcomed the new Shatabdi Express which will reduce travelling time and provide a comfortable journey to visitors.

IRCTC introduces new Superfast Train between Jaipur and Udaipur

Now Priority to Tatkal ticket holders during Reservation


According to the new orders issued by the railway board on May15, 2012, if extra coaches are incorporated in trains, then the empty seats shall be first allotted to the passengers in “Tatkal” quota and then later on will be allotted to the waiting list passengers of “General” quota.

This facility is being implemented to relieve the passengers of Tatkal Quota.

New Train for Jaisalmer Howrah (Kolkata) Journeys


A new train Howrah Jsm Superfast Express – 12371 is started on March13, 2012 from Howrah (Kolkota) to Jaisalmer via Delhi and Bikaner. This train would run once in week (every monday) from Howrah at  8.20 a.m. and reach Jaisalmer at 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the next day.

Carry your Original ID Proof while Booking Tickets and Traveling in Trains from February15, 2012


Carrying ID card as original is mandatory in all AC class from 15 Feb 2012 for all types of railway tickets.

At present the passengers with Tatkal ticket and e-ticket are to carry original proof of identity during the course of railway journey. With a view to preventing the cases of traveling on transferred tickets, now it has been decided that anyone of the passengers/the passenger booked on the tickets issued from computerized Passenger Reservation System(PRS) and internet(i-ticket), undertaking journey in AC-3 tier, AC-2 tier, 1stAC, AC Chair Car and Executive classes, will also have to carry anyone of the nine prescribed proofs of identity( in original) during the journey, and produce the same as and when required failing which all the passengers booked on that ticket will be treated as without ticket and charged accordingly.

The list of valid proofs of identity is as under:-

. Photo identity card having serial number issued by Central/State
. Student Identity Card with photograph issued by recognized

Register your Railway Complains/Suggestions via SMS


Good news about our Indian Railways. Now the travelers  will feel much happy and also feel free to travel more in trains. Here is the news!!

You can now register your complaint/ suggestion regarding railways just via an SMS. The complain could be about bad condition of trains, Poor sanitation in toilets of station, waiting rooms or the trains, or it may be some safety issue.  All you need to do is “Type in your message box < IRCOMP>  leave space and then <your suggestion/complaint> and send it to 57886

Many times while traveling by train we are put to unexpected inconvenience, we react by cursing and criticizing. No other response. Of course once we reach our destination we just forget.

There is no use in cursing the darkness around you, do light a candle however small it be, it gives an inspiration and ten more candles will be lit . The process continues reducing the darkness..

Special Bharat Darshan Train from Chandigarh to Kanyakumari


A special Bharat Darshan train from Chandigarh to Kanyakumari will be started by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on January 7, 2012. During its 12-day journey, the train will cover a number of destinations. A special coach to Goa will leave on January 4, 2012.

Commuters will be taken to Shirdi, Tirupati, Rameshwaram, Madurai and Kanyakumari. The train will start from Chandigarh Railway Station on January 7 at 10 am and return on January 18. The cost of the journey will be Rs 6,156. Apart from Chandigarh, the passengers can board the train from Ambala, Kurukshetra, Panipat and Jaipur. Around 480 passengers will be accommodated.

IRCTC will be arranging for the boarding and lodging of the passengers. The places where road transport is required will also be provided by the corporation. The passengers are also given insurance cover.

IRCTC has also planned a tour of Goa. A special non-AC coach, comprising 72, seats will be attached to Kerala Sampark Kranti Express leaving from Chandigarh on January 4 at 9.20 am. The train will reach Madgaon on January 5. On January 6 and 7, the passengers would be taken on a tour of Goa. The passengers will return to Chandigarh on January 9. The package cost for single occupancy is Rs 7,015.
